Yearning Soul
By Jake Adams
©2005

Standing on the side of Your world
You spin my heart Your way
You walk on the edge of time
Waiting for me to see eternity
My eyes are visionless to the divine love
That gripped You to Your death

I feel a vacuum in my soul
longing to pull everything in to fill it
Enticed by withering wonders of the world
I like a fool take my turn
Shaking the hand of Adam
I, too, sip the venom of sin
but the yearning in my soul still lingers

My being slowly becomes callous to Your voice
Yet the yearning still grows

Alive to the knowledge that I am dead
I recall broken the promise of childhood dreams
Not deserving You
I aimlessly chase for Your hand
You extend Your palm
And I see my name in Your scar

Life is joyless without the beautiful gift of outward expression; for it is sharing joy that makes it complete. Even grief and sorrow are better borne when shouldered together. The most splendid idea is fruitless until it is shared. This is what makes communication such a marvelous gift from God. From speech and song, to storytelling and social commentary, to poetry and parable, God has given us a powerful means of expressing ourselves as humans and reflecting Him as God. We invite you to share your own creative expressions and reflections by adding them to this living library.
