Growth in Spirit
By Mon'e Lewis
© 2005

As I look and listen to the diversity of spirits,
my discernment tells me the source from which they come.
Souls, crying out to the Father
above in need of direction and love.

Being condemned to darkness and longing to return
to the light that bore them.
Trying to subdue the flesh is a challenging process.
Its painful effect allows my spirit to progress.

Hearing the whispers of ignorance in my thoughts,
trying to shut them out.
Submitting to my spirit man shows my Father’s power in me,
letting His will be.

The crucifixion of one’s own will
doesn’t show weakness but strength that allows the spirit to grow.

Life is joyless without the beautiful gift of outward expression; for it is sharing joy that makes it complete. Even grief and sorrow are better borne when shouldered together. The most splendid idea is fruitless until it is shared. This is what makes communication such a marvelous gift from God. From speech and song, to storytelling and social commentary, to poetry and parable, God has given us a powerful means of expressing ourselves as humans and reflecting Him as God. We invite you to share your own creative expressions and reflections by adding them to this living library.
